Syncing & Exporting Data
Todays syncs automatically between your devices. You can also export your data to CSV, Markdown, and JSON.
iCloud Sync (Free)
- Your data automatically syncs across all your Apple devices when signed in with the same Apple ID
- Sync status is visible in the top toolbar (shows a cloud icon when syncing)
- View detailed sync status in Settings → iCloud Status
- Sync includes:
- Journal entries
- Metrics and their settings
- Custom metrics
- Favorites and preferences
Troubleshooting Sync
If you see sync issues:
- Check your iCloud status in Settings → iCloud Status
- Verify your Apple ID is signed in on all devices
- Ensure you have available storage in your iCloud account
- Ensure you have an active internet connection
- Wait a few minutes for sync to complete
Export Options
The app supports multiple export formats for your data:
CSV Export
- Spreadsheet-friendly format
- Includes columns for:
- Date
- All your metrics
- Entry text
- Compatible with Excel, Numbers, etc.
Markdown Export (Premium)
- Creates a single markdown file
- Each entry includes:
- Date as heading
- Metrics with values
- Journal text
- Separators between entries
Individual Markdown Files (Premium)
- Creates separate .md files for each entry
- Files are named by date
- Packaged in a zip file
- Perfect for using with other markdown tools
JSON Export (Premium)
- Complete data export
- Includes:
- Entry dates and text
- All metric values
- Health metric data (if shared)
- Perfect for data analysis
How to Export Your Data
- Go to Settings
- Select “Export Data”
- Choose your preferred format
- Select a location to save the file
Health Data
- Apple Health data is never stored on iCloud servers. It’s only displayed when available locally on your device. See Apple Health for more details.
Tips
- Choose CSV for data analysis
- Use markdown for readability
- JSON for complete data preservation
